MAKERSPACE MANAGEMENT
SIM manages memberships, subscriptions, equipment bookings, inductions, classes, payments and admin in one system for makerspaces.
What SIM manages
Makerspaces run on more than a booking calendar. SIM covers the lot.
- Memberships and subscriptions
Set member types, allowances, discounts and booking rights individually. - Equipment and resource booking
Manage bookings for machines, rooms, benches, studios, tools or anything else members need to use. - Induction-controlled access
Keep members safe by allowing only approved members to book restricted equipment. - Events, classes and courses
Manage classes, courses, workshops and events. - Payments, admin and reporting
Billing, records, oversight and management information.
Control who can book what
In a makerspace, not every member should be able to book every machine.
SIM lets you set booking rights by member type, subscription, allowance, discount or approval status, so restricted equipment can only be booked by members who are allowed to use it.
Makerspaces are not simple businesses
Members have different subscriptions, allowances and booking rights. Some equipment needs approval before it can be used. Classes and workshops need managing. Payments, records and reporting all have to stay under control.
SIM brings those moving parts into one system.
Developed with makerspace operations in mind
SIM has been developed in collaboration with the UK's largest makerspaces.
That means the system has been shaped around real operational needs: memberships, inductions, shared equipment, booking rules, classes, payments and day-to-day admin.
Works with what you already use
SIM plugs into your existing CRM, accounting software and access control, so you don't have to rebuild the way your makerspace already runs.
Free setup. No fixed software fee.
SIM takes a small percentage of the bookings made through the system, so your costs rise and fall with your income. It costs nothing until you're taking bookings through it.
There's strength in numbers
Makerspace members often need the same things: insurance, equipment finance, accountancy, training, transport and business support.
As the SIM network grows, we want to secure better deals for members, create a new revenue stream for participating makerspaces, and make your makers more successful.
